Job Description

The U.S. Consumer Finance team analyzes and provides decision support for new product launches, deal negotiations, product investment, and pricing. The SFA of Business Development is a highly strategic role responsible for providing financial analysis in support of new partnership deals. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst will also help conduct deep analytics to support the Marriott Portfolio.



Specific activities include:

  • Performing cost/benefit analyses and due diligence to support the negotiation of new Co-Brand deals and other types of partnerships
  • Evaluating profitability impacts under alternate deal scenarios and analyzing the impact to AXP of the incrementality for both successful and un-successful bids
  • Partnering with key stakeholders across risk, finance, corporate development and the business to analyze and support deal negotiations for new partnership and acquisition opportunities
  • Performing analyses on the competitive landscape of Co-Brand partnerships
  • Provide thought leadership on Marriott product economics to determine actionable recommendations and influence business strategy on how to retain the backbook
  • Closely monitor and analyze Marriott backbook campaign results to identify key drivers of success and inform changes to future segmentation and prioritization strategies
  • Supporting Senior Leadership on key strategic initiatives related to the Marriott backbook portfolio

The ideal candidate will have a hunger for learning, provide meaningful financial analysis, and present results to business partners in simple and concise terms. As such, excellent communication skills and a proactive working style are required.



  • Detail oriented individual who can quickly comprehend, manipulate, and prepare complex spreadsheets and analyses
  • Pro-active can-do attitude; a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and with ambiguity, with a commitment to driving results
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant finance experience, including demonstrated problem solving/analytical skills and prior experience in a fast paced, results-driven organization
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively synthesize complex concepts into a message that can be communicated to senior leaders
  • In-depth knowledge of card business model and economics preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to time sensitive deadlines
  • Bachelors degree required
