The American Express Global Network Partnerships Airlines team is responsible for managing merchant acquiring relationships with a number of scheduled international airlines across multiple countries within the EMEA and JAPA regions.
We have an opportunity to recruit a Senior Client Manager who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of around 40 airline merchant relationships based in Europe and Africa. The successful candidate will report to the Director, Airline Relationships EMEA and JAPA.
The role includes the management of one colleague in the team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assume primary accountability for the management, development and governance of the assigned portfolio of merchant relationships.
Interface with Airline Risk Management and Merchant Pricing to ensure appropriate exposure mitigation and pricing strategies are sensitively implemented.
Ensure adherence to all mandatory Compliance and Due Diligence processes.
Take ultimate responsibility for resolution of escalations from the Merchant Servicing team to ensure positive customer outcomes.
Drive results in terms of business development, coverage growth and portfolio governance.
Build and leverage relationships with key internal and external decision makers exhibiting the ability to influence without direct authority in order to achieve team goals and objectives.
Demonstrate customer and client focus anticipating customer needs and developing solutions to our mutual advantage.
Effectively lead, coach and develop one direct report.
Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
In depth knowledge of the airline/travel industry with a focus on payments.
Proven relationship management skills including the successful delivery of complex and challenging contract negotiations to “C” level with multi-national accounts.
A track record of effectively presenting and influencing to a senior level both internally and externally.
High standards of strategic thought leadership to help drive improvement and innovation within the team.
Effective numeracy and analytical skills.
Willingness to travel internationally on business as required.
Experience and understanding of American Express merchant operations would be an advantage.
It is anticipated that this role will be based in London or Brighton UK.
