Cardmember Acquisition is the largest investment in American Express’ Global Consumer Services Group. The Enterprise Digital Application & Platform (EDAP) team is a core part of cardmember acquisition, having responsibility for creating world class digital experiences to drive increased acquisitions.

We are looking for a strategic thinker and proven leader to join our Portfolio Management team as a Director, APMO, responsible for the card acquisitions value stream. As a Director, APMO you will:

  • Lead the APMO team responsible for the commercial portfolio within the card acquisitions value stream
  • Elevate the portfolio’s product strategy, by having a strong understanding of commercial business strategy and financial drivers
  • Develop innovation accounting model to continuously measure the portfolio’s impact on business results; including centralized reporting on key performance indicators
  • Provide financial governance for the portfolio
  • Lead and centralize stakeholder management on behalf of the portfolio, fostering collaboration and transparency between product and business teams
  • Advance the portfolio’s maturity in outcome-based planning
  • Own portfolio communications to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with other delivery portfolios and value streams within American Express to ensure there is alignment and collaboration on enterprise priorities
  • Develop tools to improve the agile teams' ability to provide transparency and seamless delivery
  • Keep up to date with industry, competitor, Agile/SAFe methodologies and new trends  


    6+ years experience working with agile teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working with senior leaders
  • In depth knowledge and demonstrated experience of agile and lean processes
  • Strong people management skills, with experience leading teams
  • Unique ability to think strategically and not lose sight of the details
  • Proven ability to drive results while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Ability to build positive relationships, influence decisions and make things happen

  • Excellent facilitation and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and gain alignment at all levels of an organization, including senior leadership

  • Change agent, not afraid to challenge the status quo

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering Management, Finance, Business Data Analytics or Marketing is highly preferred

  • Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.
