Job Description

The Pods Team is part of the US Marketing Solutions team in Enterprise Marketing Platforms & Solutions (EMPS) which sits in Enterprise Digital & Analytics. The US Marketing Solutions team is comprised of campaign review and setup teams, data validation and governance teams, and control functions to ensure marketing compliance. 




The Pods team provides critical project management of the campaign execution process for high risk/high visible marketing initiatives. The Manager (Pod lead) on this team will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams of campaign execution experts (aka “Pods”) to drive efficient and timely campaign execution through coordination of timelines, milestone tracking, and issue resolution.  In addition, the Pod lead serves as the escalation point for EMPS teams.  The Pod lead will work directly with key stakeholders including Product, Marketing, Product Development, Brand, General Counsel’s Office, and a variety of teams within EMPS (e.g. Campaign Management Team, Marketing Compliance Review, GTM).




Key Responsibilities include:


  • Work with Marketing and Product teams to identify and engage key campaign execution stakeholders at the beginning of each project

  • Ensure campaign timelines and milestones are developed and tracked in partnership with Marketing and other cross-functional teams. Responsible for identifying and communicating timeline dependencies to affected teams

  • Act as central point of escalation for EMPS teams

  • Lead weekly Pod team meetings to track progress, milestones, & campaign execution related issue resolution

  • Provide leadership to B30 analyst assigned to support Pod project

  • Partner with marketing and campaign execution teams to optimize the offer submission strategy; provide tracking and monitoring to ensure timely and accurate submissions

  • Maintain a holistic view of campaign activities and process effectiveness

  • Identify process gaps and propose improvements

  • Share lessons learned and work across Pods team to incorporate best practices





  • Exceptional project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams to drive results

  • Knowledge of American Express campaign execution processes and systems

  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills – ability to obtain consensus and deliver results in an environment which requires a high degree of coordination and alignment with short timeframes

  • Able to synthesize information and connect the dots to draw conclusions about potential impacts or opportunities

  • Natural curiosity and desire to dig deeper to understand how things work

  • Able to maintain a big picture view, know when to raise issues and assign ownership

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills

  • BS/BA Degree required
