This VP role is the communications lead for our Chief Human Resources Officer, who is driving an exciting transformation of the HR organization with a focus on enabling people across Amex to do their best work, grow as leaders, bring their full selves to work and move the business forward. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding leadership of our HR communications function, which includes developing an integrated communications strategy that supports the goals of the HR organization and the enterprise
  • Advise and support the CHRO and senior leadership team on the best ways to engage with various audiences and across internal and external channels
  • Create key messages and lead proactive communications; work with CA&C colleagues on issues management related to HR
  • Effectively manage a team that is responsible for all global HR communications, including strategies and tactics that drive colleague engagement, leadership and career development, and retention
  • Working with the CHRO chief of staff and team, develop presentations, write and edit a wide range of communications, oversee creation of digital content
  • Direct or evolve engagement with a diverse set of communication channels and forums, including the company intranet, social media, e-newsletters, meetings/events, mobile apps, feedback tools and more
  • Build a results-driven approach to message delivery, content management and engagement
  • Build excellent relationships and collaborate productively with HR business partners and others – including brand, public affairs and technology colleagues – to deliver consistent, aligned and high-impact communications

 


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within a corporate communications, marketing or HR organization, and/or working directly with clients through an agency
  • Demonstrated experience with internal and senior executive communications, and with a range of digital platforms, including social media
  • Proven track record of delivering high-impact internal and/or external communications, including message development, strategic communications planning, innovative digital content, integrated communications channel strategies, audience segmentation and measurement
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior leadership, and engage effectively and positively with clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to build, motivate and develop a team to solve problems, and work across multiple functions
  • Exceptional writer who is able to communicate clearly and effectively across a variety of formats, tones and audiences
  • Experience with innovative digital platforms and approaches to employee communications
  • Strong project management experience and relentless attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while pushing a variety of projects through to completion
