This is an exciting and challenging role that will allow the successful candidate to utilise their Legal & Commercial expertise to drive a strategic agenda for the organisation.

 

As Senior Contract Manager you will be part of a team responsible for drafting and negotiating national and multinational expense management program and product agreements/licenses for the American Express Corporate Card and Corporate Purchasing solutions.

 

You will work closely with business partners to draft and review all contract documentation; negotiate legal and business terms; ensure that all contracts comply with American Express' internal legal and business standard operating procedures; and facilitate the execution and safekeeping of final documentation.

 

In addition, our Contract Managers are also responsible that all pertinent data is accurate and complete in the company's Contracts Online database. Other general responsibilities include working closely with the Legal, Finance, Risk Management, Operations and Compliance organizations within American Express to ensure that corporate contracts accurately incorporate the company's internal policies; and participating in formation and implementation of process improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 – 7 years PQE with substantial experience in Contract and Commercial Law and excellent knowledge of contracts and negotiation strategies

  • Ability to work in a complex, multinational, environment with multiple stakeholders to gain agreement and bring contracts to closure

  • People Leadership/Management experience preferable.

  • Significant work experience within contract drafting and negotiation in a corporate setting or a private legal practice

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to identify alternate solutions to meet challenging customer needs

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external constituencies to drive business results

  • Sound judgment and the ability to balance risk and internal compliance and control policy enforcement with revenue goals in an autonomous environment

  • Excellent ability to manage competing priorities is essential given this highly visible and critical role in the sales process

  • Effective PC skills (Word/PowerPoint) and close attention to detail

  • Strong relationship focus - able to build solid working relationships with clients, colleagues and external parties

  • Commitment to integrity and values, with high personal work standards

  • Strategic thinker with good analytical skills, attention to detail even under time pressure
