Through our Global Commercial Services division, American Express offers powerful backing and support that helps companies of all sizes gain financial savings, control and efficiency. We provide a suite of payment products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.


About the position


We are now looking to hire an experienced Business Development Manager (Sales) Large Market to join our team in Amsterdam.


In this role you will target the Large Corporate market, you will take responsibility for developing new profitable business through a solution-based sales approach and identifying opportunities to increase business by working with strategic partners.


You will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospects and pro-actively, successfully managing the sales funnel.


Your influencing skills will give you the credibility to sell at the most senior level. 


You will have field sales experience gained within a B2B commercial environment.


You will be set up to exceed annual sales targets via the signing and implementation of profitable new accounts within the Large Market segment. By applying a consultative approach to explore and build real customer needs at CFO/ Financial Director/Controller level, you will build and maintain a strong, fast moving pipeline of prospects to deliver incremental volume.


Furthermore, you will employ strategies to positively influence profitability drivers with customers, always balancing the need to exceed customer expectations. Your influencing skills will enable effective internal working relationships (e.g., operations, pricing, contracting, marketing and other sales/relationship management teams) and an extended external contact strategy for key prospects to build relationships prior to sales.


Your proven ability to generate appointments, influence and sign business is core to your success.

Qualifications

Who are you?

 

You are a great networker and someone who shows excellence in sales and consultative selling. You are able to establish, maintain, and deepen partnerships with customers. You are also capable of identifying and driving profitability within a portfolio.

 

As you will be building relationships with C-level executives, a proven track record of presenting to senior executives is required. Experience working with large/multinational accounts within Travel, Financial or Procurement environment is considered a great asset.

 

Furthermore, you would bring 5+ years of proven B2B consulting, account management or sales experience. You also have strong analytical skills and financial acumen. You are comfortable with cost benefit analyses and selling premium product/service value.

 

Finally, the position requires:

  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel

  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken

  • A high degree of proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
