  • Lead a team of Account/Business Development Managers within Commercial Payments in Germany

  • Develop, lead and motivate a high-performing team to demonstrate American Express’ value proposition to corporations and drive superb results in American Express charge volumes

  • Renegotiate independently global and regional account contracts & implement pricing initiatives according to latest standards/policies

  • Lead the team in identifying business expansion opportunities, closing gaps and developing strategic account plans to drive business

  • Manage team performance to meet/exceed results according to defined goals & scorecards

  • Cultivate a culture of learning and consultative selling account/business development management

  • Broaden and deepen American Express senior contacts across the client’s organization with influencers and stakeholders

  • Embrace the fast changing payments landscape and keep current with supply and demand, payment trends, economic and competitive indicators

  • Reports directly to Director Large Market Sales and Account Development

  • Business administration university studies or similar degree

  • Ideally 6-8 years team leader responsibility within sales, business development or account management

  • Understands short- and long-term goals and can handle details to ensure successful completion

  • Comfortably operating on tight timeframes and making recommendations based on limited information

  • Consultative selling approach and challenger mindset

  • Willing and able to contribute directly to team efforts and results

  • Strong relationship management, sales, influencing and negotiation skills, including with C-level executives

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate & influence both internally & externally

  • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills

  • Able to demonstrate a flexible approach in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Track record of outstanding people leadership skills and focus on developing strong talent

  • Has strong written/oral presentation skills in German/English

  • Willingness to travel intensively

  • Proven ability to drive innovation and change; think from client perspective

  • Ability to balance American Express and client priorities to deliver results according scorecard
