Manager, Risk Management

Job Description

This position will be responsible for developing risk models and providing data science support for American Express’ growing JAPA and China business. The successful candidate will work with internal risk management teams, as well as bank partners in China to drive business growth and deliver superior risk control.


Minimum Qualifications

  • The successful candidate should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and a tremendous will to win.
  • Strong working knowledge of data mining techniques, including regression analysis, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, kNN (k-Nearest Neighbors) and GBM (Gradient Boosting Machines).
  • Experience with data manipulation tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python, R) a must have.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Successful candidate should be able to collaborate with internal and external partner teams to solve complicated business problems and drive results.
  • Previous experience with retail banking and/or fintech lending is a plus.
  • Advanced quantitative degree (Ph.D or master in math, machine learning, computer science or statistics) is required.
