Our Engineers that join our Technologies team will be assigned to one of several exciting teams that are responsible for development and management of business critical platforms. Role –
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer who will ease the deployment of web applications, that will be used by tens of millions of cardholders around the world, across environments by understanding business requirements, developing & operating systems, testing & building automation tools, gathering & incorporating feedback. We want someone with expert-level technical skills who is super creative and enjoys solving tough problems. You should be able to come up with brilliant solutions that no one else does.
You’ll be part of the Digital Acquisition Apply Experience Engineering team whose mandate is to develop new products and platforms for American Express customers. Our aim is to build interactive experiences at all touch points of a consumer's journey whether it be before, at, or after the time of purchase.
  • Lead through the full life cycle of DevOps projects: from requirements gathering through white-boarding, automation design, tool selection, system design, coding, delivery, support and enhancements
  • Work as a hands-on member of the team in leading and defining a DevOps roadmap for the Digital Acquisition Apply Experience Engineering for cloud and application automation.
  • Work directly and collaboratively with engineering teams, architects to deliver CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions, performance tuning, optimization and availability/health monitoring.
  • Work as an active participant in an Agile development environment
  • Work to oversee, design, implement, and manage DevOps capabilities using CI/CD toolsets and automation
  • Closely collaborate with software engineers to make it easy for them to roll out new code and test new features
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery) and MTTD (Mean Time to Detection) on production impacts. Proactively address gaps with stability issues across infrastructure environment
  • Establish application monitoring KPIs to measure performance and identify system bottlenecks/failure points
  • Partner closely with engineering and quality teams to enable a robust and quality driven, development and production delivery environment

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing DevOps for Web application scrum/QA teams

  • Experience in building and managing a continuous integration environment (Jenkins)

  • Linux expertise including experience with scripting and release management

  • 8+ years of technical experience in a software development organization with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Science (preferably Computer Science, Engineering or other related disciplines)

  • Functional:
    • Strong analytical & strategic thinking skills

    • Ability to interpret technical /business objectives and challenges

    • Knowledge of open source frameworks and libraries
