Background and Objectives
Through our Global Commercial Services (GCS) division, American Express offers powerful backing and support that helps companies of all sizes gain financial savings, control and efficiency. We provide a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.
Within GCS, the Business Finance and Supplier Payments (BFSP) organization owns our non-card product capabilities and supports Cross-Border Payments (CBP), one of the fastest growing segments of our business.
The CBP Product team is embarking on a large-scale and ambitious digital transformation programme and needs an experienced leader to help deliver its new cross-border payments experience.
Reporting directly to the VP Product Development and working in partnership with another Director team, this role will be responsible for leading and delivering new features to support the CBP capability roadmap into new and existing markets.
Role will be based in Burgess Hill but will be required to travel to our London locations as required. Possible travel to New York.
Lead a number of Product Owners / domains with very close partnership with several Tech scrum teams.
Define and deliver requirements through engaging and collaborating across stakeholders to prioritise requirements and make necessary trade-off decisions.
Devise and deliver go-to-market plans for new features and capabilities, ensuring business objectives are met whilst mitigating risks and issues.
Deliver regular communication to stakeholders on status of deliverables.
Track the success of the scrum teams features against capabilities.
Management of the Third-Party Lifecycle process for external vendors.
Align the UX features to the UX strategy and capabilities.
Ensure operational capabilities are established to enable the business to operate in a controlled and compliant manner.

Extensive experience in a product management and / or product development function.
Proven experience working with an agile mindset with significant experience of agile delivery.
Knowledge of technology concepts, practices and toolsets preferred.
Proven experience challenging existing practices and the courage and conviction to push through new ideas.
Experience of working across markets, functions, and business lines to bring new capabilities to market.
Deep UI/UX experience preferred and proven ability to collaborate with design teams.
Strong grasp of compliance and regulatory concepts.
Excellent relationship management skills - experience of managing relationships across a variety of internal cross-functional departments and externally with suppliers and clients.
Excellent leadership skills with proven ability to identify strengths and address development needs within the team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proven experience of leading through large-scale change.
Knowledge of B2B payments products essential.
