The American Express National Bank (AENB) Third-Party Program Management Office is responsible to for the governance and oversight of bank impacting third-party relationships and quality assurance reviews of third-party risk assessments, due diligence and gap closure documentation.  The AENB Third-Party Program Manager is responsible for navigating, facilitating and monitoring change management efforts across all program pillars.  The successful incumbent will support the director by providing project management leadership for key strategic initiatives and program capabilities, while continuously monitoring program performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.  Extensive experience leading complex cross functional program, projects and change management efforts will be required.



  • Co-creates and supports the execution of the Third Party Program Management Office mission, vision, and roadmap

  • Accountable for the successful initiation, planning, monitoring, control and closure of a program and project related deliverables

  • Accountable for monitoring and analyzing current-state processes, issues and pain points, developing comprehensive business cases for improvement recommendations

  • Develops, maintains and reports progress on roadmap initiatives, integrated project plans, deliverables and timelines

  • Conducts program-wide impact analysis exercises driven by change management efforts, ensuring appropriate updates to roadmaps, policies, program documentation, procedures and key process indicators (KPIs)

  • Maintains internal documentation library, ensuring that process and other documentation is regularly updated to reflect the latest operational processes and requirements

  • Owns the identification and management of the program-wide communication strategy, ensuring engagement, leadership alignment, and communication across stakeholders

  • Works cross-functionally with stakeholders to identify, monitor and report on associated affiliate program improvements, ensuring deliverables satisfy the expectations of the bank

  • Utilizes critical thinking to determine when project and program risk escalation is necessary

  • Builds and maintains professional relationships and partnerships with key business partners

  • Leads efforts associated with 2nd line reviews, internal compliance testing, internal audits and external regulatory exams

  • Develops succinct messages, talking points and compelling presentations for leadership, committee and board consumption

  • Support other functions within the AENB Third-Party Program Management Office, as required


  • 7 or more years’ experience leading large scale project, program and change management efforts

  • Experience with the technical aspects of presentation development, including constructing templates, use of multiple masters, color themes, animations and diagramming

  • Ability to translate complex information into easily understandable terms and define, analyze, interpret and report meaningful results

  • Investigative mindset, research oriented approach, large appetite for knowledge and learning

  • Creative thinker and problem solver who has the ability to operate in the “white space”

  • Calm under pressure and demonstrated experience operating as a primary point of contact, independently prioritizing and escalating issues when necessary

  • A self-starter, proactive team player with a passion to consistently deliver high quality service and exceed expectations

  • Effectively works independently within a team construct, while supporting teamwork and achievement of team objectives

  • Proven collaboration and relationship building skills along with the ability to influence without authority

  • Prior experience with regulatory change management, third party management and information security/information technology is a plus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
