Function Description:
Customer Data Science and Analytics
Background: American Express is one of the world's largest, most analytically sophisticated financial services providers. The American Express Brand stands for unsurpassed customer service and expertise in quantitative analysis is central to our success in serving customers and delivering for shareholders.
This position is in the Enterprise Digital & Analytics – Customer Marketing Analytics and Data Science supporting the US Consumer business team and is responsible for expanding and deepening relationships with customers and maximizing profitability for American Express through best-in-class analytics and data science. As the leader of a team of analysts, the role will be responsible for optimizing the way we target our customers with the most relevant messages and offers in the US market. The team is specifically responsible for accurately predicting economic value to treatments that touch our US Consumer base and allocate the optimized investment level to maximize company profit. This role will focus on the scaling our Global economics optimization framework across more treatments.

Purpose of the Role:
To lead a team that will inform optimized Customer Investments for US Consumer through robust and predictive economic evaluations

Align and manage the calculation of profitability metric (iCMV) for US Consumer business in line with finance framework
Optimize predictive models for revenue and cost behaviors through latest machine learning algorithms within the team's modeling re-training platform
Partner with Marketing & Finance to scale the Economic Optimization framework to new treatments & revenue sources for the US Consumer
The role requires exhibiting a high level of expertise in guiding the data strategy through statistical analysis, decision support logic and data techniques. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to step into a very challenging role. He / She will drive improvements in generating data driven actionable strategies to enable business growth initiatives.
The individual is expected to lead a team of 3-4 highly motivated colleagues and inspire team members and partners.

Past Experience:
3+ years of work experience leveraging analytics and data science to drive business results. Need to have people leader experience

Academic Background:
Advanced degree in a statistics/business/economics/decision science related field

Functional Skills/Capabilities:
Ability to be proactive, think quickly and make critical decisions regarding high visibility deliverables with tight timelines; often requiring the ability to make complex decisions in situations of ambiguity and time pressure 
High quality written and oral communication skills with proven success in influencing business decisions 
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and advance talent is expected.

Technical Skills/Capabilities:

• Competency in data mining and customer segmentation techniques through SQL, Hive, Python etc.

Knowledge of Platforms:

Knowledge of Global Marketing and Modeling Platforms will be an added advantage
