Accertify – General Manager, Japan (Senior Manager, Band 35)
 
Accertify Inc, a leader in fraud and payments for e-commerce merchants and wholly owned by American Express is experiencing tremendous growth for its industry leading fraud prevention solutions.  Focused on rapid expansion in the US, EMEA, APAC and LAC markets, Accertify’s suite of products, which includes the powerful Intercept as platform, provides merchants with end-to-end automated fraud and identity solutions for card-not-present (CNP) purchases, online scams and policy abuses, payments and chargeback management functions and online account based activities.
 
Given the continuing growth of our business across the APAC region, we are now looking to appoint a General Manager of Japan to aggressively grow the Accertify business in that market. The role of General Manager – Japan will include local hands-on leadership of a small but growing team based in Tokyo, driving long term sales growth, building strong customer relationships whilst also assuming responsibility for the strategic direction of our business in Japan.  This is a lead senior manager role reporting to the General Manager – APAC and reflects the importance of this market and its contribution to our global growth strategy.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a varied and complex role which will require the successful applicant to have previously managed a strategic sales team and ideally a multifunctional team in the payments, technology or SaaS space. In order to be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following attributes:
 
- Exceptional leadership – someone who leads from the front and can build a loyal followership
 
- Executive gravitas, sales leadership and commercial acumen that drive the right outcomes for Accertify, its employees and customers
 
- A track record of sales success and exceeding targets including extensive knowledge of the end-to-end sales cycle and experience in using Salesforce to manage and report on sales activities
 
- The ability to drive new profitable business through solution selling and coaching of direct reports to do the same
 
- Strong deal making skills which position the company as the most appropriate and preferred choice for enterprise customers
 
- Experience selecting and developing strategic partners that can accelerate revenue growth as part of a cohesive and effective go to market plan
 
- Development and execution of strategic plans that can secure the long-term success of our business in Japan whilst providing direction and focus for the local team
 
- A strong understanding of the payments, technology and regulatory landscapes in Japan including established networks with C-level contacts across the enterprise and financial services segments
 
- The ability to develop strong relationships with customers to deliver exceptional service and positive experiences
 
· A proven ability and desire to manage and lead a diverse team of sales people, sales engineers, implementers, client managers and support functions across Japan
 
· Someone who is self-motivated and who can work independently to manage the Japan business on a day to day basis
 
· Understanding of different cultures and the ability to build relationships across multiple geographies with staff at all levels including those within American Express (parent company)
 
- Be a key member of the Accertify APAC leadership team and be the voice for Japan across our global business
 
- A demonstrated ability to do business in Japan and  understand local business customs and practices
 
In addition to the above attributes, candidates will be regarded favorably if they can demonstrate:
 
- Success in managing individual and group sales targets (this role combines both functions)
 
· A good understanding of the current online fraud prevention landscape in Japan (and globally) including existing vendors, market trends, regulatory drivers, value propositions, service capabilities and key differentiators
 
- Flexibility to work across time zones beyond APAC  (US & UK) as and when necessary
 
- An ability to be an advocate for Accertify within American Express Japan organization whilst also being the external voice for Accertify that strengthens our brand and profile in the local market 
 
- A strong command of English alongside proficient Japanese speaking and writing skills
