Job Description

Global Treasury Controllership Services (GTC) plays a significant role in the financial reporting process for the Company’s cash, debt and equity issuances, derivatives and hedging, and investments.  In addition, the team provides financial instrument valuations, and performs middle office trade support functions for Global Treasury.

Analyst role is within the Valuation & Treasury Advisory team of GTC, supporting managers and is responsible for preparing reports and supporting various analysis and valuation used by Senior Management, other parts of GTC organization and external reporting. Analyst will also be supporting key projects and Treasury advisory initiatives.

 

Responsibilities include:

Analysis, Reporting and Valuations: 

  • Perform valuations for the Company’s debt, derivatives portfolio and Investments; research, resolve and document any discrepancies between marks from different sources; ensure in-depth understanding of all valuation results

  • Support AXP’s and its subsidiaries fair value disclosure preparation

Business Advisory: 

  • Building successful relationships with business partners: Treasury, External Reporting, Legal and Tax.

  • Partner with different Business Units (Treasury, Controllership and Risk) on different advisory projects

  • Provide expertise on valuation matters to business partners

  • Present Valuation & Financial Results to GTC and Global Treasury Leadership

Projects & Compliance: 

  • Document and Maintain controls procedures

  • Update and Maintain Valuations model documents

  • Lead periodical control testing supporting SOX, IAG and Model Governance

  • Support Valuation Projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting – Big 4 experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Advance Excel and PowerPoint Skills

  • Curiosity and basic understanding of Capital Market, financial products and derivatives

  • Positive, flexible and can-do attitude, with robust work ethic and work ownership

  • Good communication to build relationship with business partners

  • General understanding of US GAAP and the regulatory environment for Bank Holding Companies.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification is a plus
